I’m writing this so that no one else has to go through what I did over the weekend. After calling the hotel, I was advised to reserve a room online, so that’s what I did. I was given a wedding gift bag upon check-in but then told that my reservation had been canceled. It seems that they can cancel online appointments, but only if they read the fine print. Why was I encouraged to make my reservation online if that was a possible outcome?
Needless to say, I was informed that all available hotel rooms had been booked by the time the wedding was 45 minutes away from starting. The worst part is that they didn’t even call or email me to let me know they were canceling my service. I proved it by showing them my inbox. It was a mad dash to try and book a hotel room. They offered NO payment at all. Only Sholanda’s business card, the manager’s. Never heard back from her.
Everything about it was so infuriating and unprofessional. No available hotels were found in the area. The front desk clerk gave me the phone number of a nearby Holiday Inn, but when we drove by, all the windows were boarded up. This is not the sort of place I want to be in an Uber returning to at 3 a.m. after attending a wedding at Notre Dame.
So much has been said. I had to stay sober enough to drive the 2.5 hours home because I couldn’t find a new hotel and took the rap for something that was actually their fault. Do you really want to spend your wedding day doing that? I wouldn’t recommend having your wedding guests stay here if you’re planning on having your ceremony and reception at Notre Dame. Except if you want them to experience the same fate as me.

During the month of February, I made a reservation at the Inn for a football game in October. Since I was changing my last name after making the reservation, I had to get a new credit card. Hotels.com emailed me a few weeks before my trip to inform me that they had canceled my reservation. The hotel and Hotels.com never attempted to contact me about changing my payment details before canceling my reservation.
Hotels.com blamed the Inn, and vice versa. When I tried to reschedule my stay at the inn, the receptionist informed me that, of course, all of the rooms were taken. I am a Saint Mary’s University alumna who had planned to return to SMC for the weekend of the football game but was unable to do so due to the fact that she had recently opened a new credit card account. We’re all very upset about this.

It’s not that the rooms were dirty or unpleasant, which is why I only gave it one star. That was not the case except that we threw away an empty pack of cigarettes (we didn’t have anymore) and were charged $250 for smoking in the room. It’s amusing because there’s no physical proof of smoking other than the trash in the trash can. The assistant manager later explained that they had accidentally charged me for the wrong room. My original payment was supposed to be returned.
The next day, I call to make sure I’m getting my money back, and they tell me they found several packs in the trash, but that they were still refunding me. When I confronted the assistant manager about my anger over the theft of $250, she fumbled her story and yelled at me. We arrived at the hotel at 12:01 am and departed at 08:00 am. I have no intention of ever returning to this hotel or recommending it to anyone else. The worst part is that I haven’t heard back from General Manager Kim about her extremely rude employee.
